Chirk Castle and Gardens - The castle is open daily from April 1st to September 30th except on Monday and Tuesday.

Chirk Castle is a 700 year old marcher fortress, which commands fine views over the surrounding countryside. It was built in the late 13th century by Roger Mortimer, Justice of North Wales for Edward 1. The castle was sold for 5,000 pounds to Sir Thomas Myddelton in 1595 and his descendants continue to live in part of the castle today

The Ceiriog Memorial Institute is a lasting memorial to the famous poet 'Ceiriog' and to other notable Welshmen. Founded in 1911 and extended in 1929, it houses a rare collection of memorabilia. This 'Jewel of the Glen' is open daily between Easter and October, between 1pm and 6pm or, by prior arrangement for group visits.
